Oo it's a build with no context. Bet it's going to be a hot thread of the day.

I have 4 sentinels currently: Water/bio, Rad/rad, Elec/fire, and an AR/Regen I have ranked them all in the order how they perform. I wouldn't mind if we increased cone arcs or raised some target caps or such as I would love to play my AR/Regen due to its great name: American Jesus, but it just underperforms comparing to my other sentinels.

It's an interesting idea, but I have an issue with it in that you're rewarded for not using your secondary, so you end up being left with half a character if you want to do more damage.

Power Set Concept - Amplification
SeraphimKensai replied to SeraphimKensai's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Like I was saying they are essentially placeholder powers and open for discussion. I like the idea of boosting range or negative heal resistance as well. Kinectics mainstay is getting people to the damage cap. When I was coming up with the placeholder powers the only one I initially was inspired by from kinetics was the Boost Travel, it's similar to Inertia Reduction, but the idea was that it benefited people with any travel power, but more so people with teleport abilities like recall friend. The essence of the set was thinking about meaningful ways to boost secondary effects of powers for other teammates, and thus the reason for a weaker toggle version of a power boost-esque ability. The tier nine placeholder, I feel would be immensely strong, as it essentially applies a level shift by 1 to anyone in range, but is limited with a short duration and a long recharge. I thought that would be pretty unique, but not sure about the numbers for how it would play, so as it is if hypothetically it was made, I imagine it getting used for AV fights. The tier 8 placeholder I also thought interesting in that, once buffed, the rest of the team chooses how that buff effects themselves in that the buff boosts the strength of inspirations temporarily, maybe a 30 second window or so. So Amplifer toon uses Amp INSP, and then Broadsword Stalker pops a small red, but instead of it boosting damage by 25%, it's 35%. The Empath pops a sturdy and similarly gets a 10% boost to the value from their sturdy enhancement. I'm not sure if 10% is a good number balance wise, but it seemed to be a meaningful enough number without being too large of a number.- 7 replies

Perhaps any attack could benefit from the Reflective Damage Bonus?
-
Since there's misconceptions about what I suggested for MA, let me reiterate my thought: I said the set lacks AoE options, it's not completely devoid of AoE (unless you're a stalker). I suggested adding an pbaoe attack, and what I would replace honestly would be Crane Kick, turning it into Hurricane Kick (think Street Fighter Ryu/Ken) allowing it to kick everyone around it up to 3 times and on the third kick do the knockback that crane kick had.
-
The issue with that though, is though if you build a sentinel well, often times it's HP hardly moves. Either Softcapped Defense or Absorb mechanics. What I almost think would be a cool inherent opportunity for them would be a Reflect Damage-esque power (kinda like T'Challas new suit in the Black Panther movie), so that as the Sentinel gets attacked, they get a stacking buff, that they can expend via a blast that deals bonus damage based on how many stacks of the buff they had on them.

Last night I had an idea, as I was playing and thought about NBC's Heroes. Remember Ando? How he could boost people's powers? This is a very rough idea, and I'm totally open to different ideas. Note the numbers after the placeholder power names are what level they would be available on either a primary or secondary for the power set concept. Erratic Amplification 1 1 Ranged Foe, -Max HP, -ToHit, Special(+Damage) Amplified Recovery 1 2 PBAoE, Ally +Regen, +Recovery, +Recharge Amplified Pain 2 4 Toggle: PBAoE Foe (-Defense, -Resistance, -Regen) Amplify Ally 6 10 Ally +Power Boost (similar to Empath Fort) Amplify Self 8 16 Self +Power Build Up Amplified Travel 12 20 PBAoE Team, +Max Movement Speed (run, jump, flight), +Max Teleport Range, +Special (Recall Friend/Shadow Recall act similar to ATT) Amplification Aura 18 28 Toggle: PBAoE Team, +Special (weaker toggle version of Power Boost) Amplified Inspiration 26 35 Ally, +Special (Boosts inspirations used on individual) Ultimate Amplification 32 38 PBAoE, Team +Special (Team Ultimate Inspiration), lasts 15 seconds, 10 minute recharge I was trying to think how we could get something rather unique as far as a support set could go, and thought this could be conceivably a cool idea. I haven't figured out what potential buff/debuff numbers necessarily could be aside of the tier 9 as that's fixed but duration/recharge is up for discussion on that one. Every Hiro needs an Ando.

I played my lvl 50 invuln/ma tank last night and remembered why I don't play it a lot, a lack of AoE. The set would benefit ideally I think from changing a power to add another pbaoe. Additionally, I'm not opposed to giving it either increased damage, or allowing it to debuff some resistances of it's targets as it attacks.

Have been interested in the revival of this for awhile, to the point last night held an all tank ITF on Everlasting. It was really fun, but we kinda made it our own by just cycling through AT's for the sppedy ITF's. So last night we did: Tanks, Blasters, Sentinels, Controllers, and Brutes. Tonight we're back at it with other ATs.

Archetype that made the worst first impression on you?
SeraphimKensai replied to DR_Mechano's topic in General Discussion
After all these years playing, I can damn near play any AT with the best of them, save Masterminds. I know they can be absurdly strong, and when I do play them I run numpad bindings, but I just never got into the playstyle of them to enjoy them. That said, until CoH came back to these private servers, I never even bothered to level one for myself pass something like 32. Now I have a fully IO'd Robotics/Empathy MM and a lvl 41 Demon/TA MM, but I'm still not interested really in playing the AT. That said, I don't hate the AT, they are welcome on my teams as long as the player is competent, which is the case with any other AT as well. -
Total Character Reboots on Homecoming
SeraphimKensai replied to Marine X's topic in General Discussion
My old main was rebooted from emp/energy to robots/emp. It's no longer my main by any means, but at least now I can use all the powers save rez on my pets. -
If superspeed could run across water/up the side of buildings, then all I can say is hold my beer as I don't want to spill it when I run up the side of a building to go dismantle some clockwork.

Primary honestly doesn't matter, as a a Hami tank/brute is not in melee due to Hami's attack (it's a targeted AoE) and being in melee increases the likelihood of wiping a bunch of the raid as they clear mitos or actually damage Hami.
-
Honestly I was thinking about Energy Melee, and figured Energy Punch, Bone Smasher, Energy Transfer, and Total Focus are so strong, to balance them out each attack should take at least 15 seconds, so the rest of the team has enough time to get comfy while the Energy Melee players go own everything.

I just ran a Synapse with Snarky, and Snarky didn't quit. Snarky came prepared and was efficient.

Inspiration Combination to next tier
SeraphimKensai replied to Joshex's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I understand memory can be a crazy thing, but as someone that used to religiously PvP, I can tell you that if you were able to combine inspirations to produce one of a higher tier, then literally every single PvPer in the world would of rolled with a solid tray of tier 3 inspirations. That can not be the case however, except for when we saved our drops and used them later or bought them from the AH. Look for any PvPer' screenshots from battles showing their inspiration tray. If we could combine to higher we would of done it. That all said I'm not opposed to being able to do so though. -
I paired thermal with earth control for a volcano based character. The two sets together work really well. That said if theme is more important to you than function, you could go thermal/fire defender named Match Stick.
-
Not sure. I literally renamed a character yesterday, and it worked without issue. I was honestly surprised that I got the name I tried.
-
Alright let's just get rid of IO's in general. Back to SO's and HO's for everyone. Obviously this post is facetious as is this whole forum thread.

I play with scrapper lock on every single AT. I want to be efficient and not waste anyone's time, so I'm going to the objective and winning, all else be damned.

Bind to select foes with Disintegrate debuff on them?
SeraphimKensai replied to Heliopause's topic in Help & Support
The bind system unfortunately doesn't let us target with a keyword search like that. You can't even easily target via NPC rank (underling, minion, lt, boss, etc.) You can target by mob name, so if you make several macros and change the mob names depending on what your fighting, you might save yourself some tab time. Realistically this is one of those times that mouse targeting will be the most efficient method. -
Honestly I'm in the camp that Hotfeet could reasonably have it's end usage reduced on the base level as if I recall correctly (I'm at work so no access to the game), hot feet uses 1.08 end/second which is significantly higher than average for a dot PBAoE toggle.

Server Merger Needed to Sustain Playerbase
SeraphimKensai replied to Saborwrath1's topic in General Discussion
Hypothetically if servers were to magically merge, it would be cool to have Everlasting absorb Indomitable. I'm not saying to do it, just that if it magically was done, I'd get to play with my guild and have access to a more vibrant PvP community.
