Giving back to the City of Heroes community
SeraphimKensai replied to SeraphimKensai's topic in General Discussion
Deal, but the new major villain will be your alt: Preparation H, who works at H&R Block in Cap Au Diable, and it will be a 16 mission arc, where half the missions are you traveling back to your apartment in Nerva to get another file that Preparation H requests. The other half of the missions are you sitting in an office with Preparation H and he's asking you endless dialogue questions regarding your taxes, income, write offs, etc. At the end of the 16 mission arc, you are awarded a badge called Tax Payer, and 2/3 of all your available infamy is removed from your character to vanish into the aether. -
This game has been a big part of many of our lives for a long time, and when it came back to the public 3 years ago people actually cried tears of relief. I wanna make sure it continues on.... So without further ado, I pledge to donate the annual server costs for the next three years, in the event I win the jackpot tonight. Much love.

Empathy 2.0: A Suggested Revamp of an Old Classic
SeraphimKensai replied to EmptyStar's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Going to have to say no. I used to main an empathy defender. In the PvP community, Empathy is absolutely vital. This is going to be a nonstarter. That said you have some interesting ideas, hash it out to make a completely unique set, reskin it, and leave empathy alone. -
issue 27 Focused Feedback: Symphony Control
SeraphimKensai replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Personally I wish we had an option for a Bass Guitar and make the music sound like I'm laying down a funky groove, aside of that I'll echo a few things: Removing the damage component on the single target confuse, so that the power doesn't notify Reordering the powers a bit to: Powers: Melodic Binding Ranged, Light DMG(Psionic), Immobilize, -Speed Hymn of Dissonance Ranged, Light DMG(Psionic), Hold, -Recharge Aria of Stasis Ranged (Cone), Minor DMG(Psionic), Immobilize, -Speed Impassioned Serenade Ranged, Minor DMG(Psionic), Confuse Confounding Chant Ranged (Cone), Superior DoT (Psionic), Foe Disorient Enfeebling Lullaby Ranged (Cone), Moderate DMG(Psionic), Sleep Dreadful Discord Ranged (Cone), Minor DMG(Psionic), Fear Chords of Despair Targeted AoE, Hold Reverberant Reverberant Pet Summon 3. It's would be kinda a cool either for a "crescendo" mechanic that as you chain your symphony powers in an attack chain the arc of the cones expand via a modifier, but that's just a little niche idea that I figure matches the overall theme of the set. overall good work. -
/macro_image "BeastMastery_SummonDireWolves" "Tooltip" "Command"powexec_location me:15 Summon Dire Wolf" "Tooltip" is the text when you hover your mouse over a power or macro in your power tray. "Command" is the code to do what you want. me:15 will spawn them centered on your toon's orientation and the number creates a 15-foot distance between you and the wolves on spawn. You also have 1 quote on the command and missing the beginning one see below putting everything together: /macro_image "BeastMastery_SummonDireWolves" "Wolfies" powexec_location me:15 "Summon Dire Wolf"

There's the real Babbage that spawns in Boomtown that's not part of the TF.
-
I've suggested in the past about randomly super sizing Giant Monsters to like Hamidon size and buffing them so so they have more attacks, ho/resistance/defense etc, and give bonus rewards/supersized badges for their defeats. Imagine a Babbage *100'd that's actually a threat.

If you're pairing trick arrow with assault rifle, because of the cones, I'd suggest making it a hover/fly based toon that flies over mobs, aims straight down and hits them to maximize your cones arc/depth.

Focused Feedback: Reward Merits
SeraphimKensai replied to Booper's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Converting Astral/Emp to reward merits to convert to converters or IOs to sell on AH. Hmmm if people doing this is a problem, here's a solution.... Seeing as we already seed salvage, just seed IO's, converters, boosters, catalysts, etc right on the AH. That would reasonably establish... market stability across the game, and single handedly would kill price inflation like popping aim buildup and using total focus/bone smasher. Yes it's not perfect, the three marketeers would be disrupted, but it would also address another concern should the player base continue to shrink....there would still be IOs to slot your toons with. -
If you're new to the game, just make the character and play it. learn the powers as you go, learn what works against specific enemies. don't rush through the content, take your time. One of the worst things in this game are ppl that have been power leveled and have no clue how to play their character or how to navigate the game's zones. I played an ill/ff troller back in i2ish, and superior invis/deceive will get you through most encounters. the force field bubbles won't work on phantom army, but do on phantasm. Its a good team friendly combo especially for low/mid level content, and potentially hard mode stuff adding ff buffers to your teammates defense.

All zones changed to LEVEL 50 - thoughts?
SeraphimKensai replied to Troo's topic in General Discussion
The instant 50s isn't allowed to do pve missions, and only participate in pvp settings. Pve doesn't need instant 50s. That said allowing contacts and mobs to scale up to 50s so characters don't accidentally out level content I'm not opposed to. Thunderspy did something similar with level-less zones and it worked well enough more or less, however certain mob types had to have more powers added to them to balance better at higher level of play, and lower level characters still had difficulty with normally higher level mobs because the number of powers that caused debuffs in things like Agony Mages, or Devouring Earth, etc. -

Raising PvP Zone -level enforcement- NON RV
SeraphimKensai replied to Kataklysm's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
As a retired pvper, before the proposed changes involving Temporal Warriors, I would of been against the idea of level raising these zones out of nostalgia and keeping options for pvp at various points in a toon's life. I used to be a big fan of hosting lvl 5, lvl 8, lvl 15 PvP event back on live. With the proposed changes to the PvP system with Temporal Warriors, I'm inclined to be supportive of raising the level of these zones up to 50, but still allow lower level toons to participate, but by artificially change their.effective combat level up to lvl 50, that way non Temporal Warriors can still enter the zones to get shivans, or nukes, etc.- 110 replies

Focused Feedback: Reward Merits
SeraphimKensai replied to Booper's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
I'm pretty hesitant on this change. I'm wondering if the show fits the foot so to speak. If excessive afk farming on a toon in a tf mode is a problem why not implement a 30 minute timer before disconnect if they are legitimately afk from their computer and not pressing keys? Eliminating the conversion of currencies to other more useful currencies in the game is a much bigger hit to more casual gamers. For someone like me locking it behind a time sink to one convert a day or something is just more annoying than I'd personally like as like most of you have a lot more demands on my time than to dedicate as much time as I did to this game say 18 years ago when it wasnt a pirated MMO. -
I concur that kin/sonic is great. You can cap both your team's and your own damage, while further debuffing mob resistance so that you actually hit for more. Otherwise for nostalgia, I still hold a special place for the old school kin/elec sapper builds. They work well enough but I like my corruptor version more than my defender.

There's some pretty good ones here in this sub forum. You just have to scan through the titles several pages and you'll find what you see. Roll for initiative.

Wormhole should have enough mag to teleport a +4 AV. Get 3 max level gravity control toons to hold hands and cast wormhole at the same time should be enough mag to TP Magisterium Tyrant to Pluto.

I like this idea actually. But otherwise I'm all for the name release policy as long as lvl 50 names are always protected and never gets released. Maybe even have an option for military members to submit an exception to the name retention policy as people that are military that can be deployed for 12-18 months with shit all access to the internet let alone time to play. I'd hate to have Staff Sergeant Hero come back with a Bronze Star with Valor, and a Purple Heart only to find out their toon's name had been snatched up after personally escorting Vladimir Putin back to Russia.

Build Request for Fire / Energy / Fire Mastery Dominator
SeraphimKensai replied to Radeon's topic in Dominator
Hasten/Power Up - 2 slot with recharge redux, take the HO out. Make sure to +5 them. Bonfire you want a kb to kd converter in there so that the mobs are flopping in an area that you control. Most people will use smoke and FlashFire/bonfire to get in on a group and then work them over. Don't use fire cages until they get clustered. Personally for me some of the best application of energy assault is some of the melee skills, but that's all preference. Some of your slotting looks like you just added another IO of the same set, and it's hard to tell exactly where you're aiming for. Depending on your goals you could likely better allocate some of your slots and IO choices, but it's hard to know exactly your intent. Your attacks look fairly underslotted compared to your controls. The idea behind a domi is a quick high mag disabling shot followed by an onslaught of ass kicking, rinse and repeat. -
For what poison is designed for it can be stronger if you can layer the actual targeted debuffs and the small AoE debuffs (they stack), it's just a pretty small AoE splash range. It's really designed for encounters like Rommy on ITF where he has some adds to help stack the debuffs.

Slotting and Strategies for Symphony Control
SeraphimKensai replied to oedipus_tex's topic in Dominator
I've been playing around with the set on brainstorm as well, and looking forward to this making it's way over to my stomping grounds at Everlasting. I still haven't decided just what secondary I will actually pair it with though. Definitely a fun set. -
We used to farm with fire/kins before IOs existed. I would suggest firing up mids and taking a stab at your own build, then asking for feedback. It's easier to catch fish when using bait. I would also check those mob types on brainstorm to see if the incoming damage types have changed and build from there, as I think that change is likely to get pushed to the actual servers.

I could see some people having use of it as I pretty much already do this with my badge.

Focused Feedback: Reward Merits
SeraphimKensai replied to Booper's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
I've always thought that rewards should be based on risk, so reward merits should scale based on higher difficulty levels played. I don't really see why the need to remove the conversion of emp/astral to reward merits though as you've already removed AE farming's ability to get them in AE. Why not allow someone to convert to a reward merit if they'd rather use those to buy an IO, recipe, booster, etc. Excuse the pun, but It seems like a change without merit.
