Often, you don't get to pick where the next breakthrough will occur. Such is the case with "The Ichor Knight", whose high tech suit was meant to tap into zero-point energy. Instead, it seems that it tapped into some sort of otherworldly void. Still, when life gives you lemons... ichor knight2.costume

Frankly, I'd love to be able to limit what glows on some pieces. For instance, I'd like to see a version of the Imperial Defense gloves where the actual glove part is black, and the secondary color only applies to the glowing part. Similarly, the Ascension belt could benefit from a similar treatment, where the "ribs" were just black and only the center jewel took the secondary color & glow effect...

Are you excited about the future of the MCU?
biostem replied to DougGraves's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
I feel like Falcon & the Winter Soldier really missed a great opportunity to delve further into the ramifications of "the snap". I also feel like they made the supersoldier serum a little too easily given out. I'd also love to see a not-too-angsty take on child meta-humans, (let's leave the cliche bully-picks-on-meta stuff at the wayside and come up with something new). I feel that, if done with proper development and taking pains to avoid the dreaded "Mary Sue" quotient, an Iron Heart character could really do well - have her take on a Stark Industries internship or maybe get a hold of some of Venko's materials that he stashed away somewhere, instead of separately creating her power armor out of whole cloth, or maybe she is one of Tony's daughter's friends, and together they are able to create their own suits and adventure together. I just think we need a narrower focus on a smaller, more personal story... -
Maybe I'm interpreting the OP too literally here, but the "character" is not an agent - they do not make decisions or "pick" anything. Now, if what you're instead asking is whether certain powers or combinations or powers are or become much more appealing to certain players, or due to certain play experiences said player has had, then yes, those are definitely huge deciding factors on what one chooses to play...

I don't - why force all whip users into a demonic theme? Sure, the whip is going to be fiery/energy-based, but there are many ways to divorce that from any sort of demonic semblance by recoloring it, etc. Maybe a generic diamond shape or overlapping squares, (one rotated about 45 degrees from the other), could be used to give plausible deniability to those not wanting such a theme. Also, if we're going for a whip set, I'd prefer as many powers actually use said weapon, as possible, plus I already described how one of the animations could be used as a PBAoE.

How do you afford art? (A discussion, not a question)
biostem replied to _Kai_'s topic in Art & Multimedia
It falls into the same category as any other "disposable" expenditure. Skip getting a coffee or meal while out, and instead have something at home - do that a few times and you can easily afford a commission, video game, etc - It's all about delaying gratification... -
I get you, but that wasn't the premise of my post - it was that communicating with your team results in a better outcome/experience.
-
Wait... so playing with a group of people you regularly communicate with results in a better outcome!? Who woulda thunk it. Out of curiosity, does anyone actually talk to the other people they join a PUG with, (other than just a quick "hello"), before running off to the next task?

I want to see more dealing with the impact on all of the events on the "average Joe", kind of like how Spiderman Homecoming dealt with a guy who ran a company that cleaned up after the battle of New York. It'd also be refreshing to see how regular law enforcement or military tried to cope with such events. Heck, how about a morally grey movie dealing with people who were trying to get in on all the superpowers flying around - imagine the parent of a wheelchair-bound child trying to get a hold of some version of the tech that allowed War machine to walk again, or someone who invented a much more modest power armor, but wasn't a billionaire, dealing with the police or SHIELD knocking on their door... -
You could "cheat" another attack by using only the portion of the crack whip animation AFTER your character spins around. You could also truncate the "Hell on Earth" animation to exclude the extended "hold and pull" part of the animation, to get another animation out of it. Further, you could take *just* the spinning part of crack whip and use that for a PBAoE power.

I wanted a more classic look, so I present to you "Therm-Mia", my newest character (Poison/Ice Defender): therm-mia2.costume

I wonder how much of it will be negotiating with other factions, (aggressively or otherwise), and how much will be Boba doing bounty hunter stuff. I also wonder if any of the series will be devoted to explaining his apparently difference in behavior between the original trilogy and the post-RotJ era. I do hope the majority of the series does not take place on Tatooine, but I feel like we'll be seeing an awful lot of Jabba's palace. I would like to see Boba run into at least 1 surviving clone - would make for an interesting exchange. I also wonder if there will be any flashbacks to the events of the original trilogy, from Boba's perspective, (a la setting up Han's capture, etc).

I played around with the various "path auras", but couldn't find one that is a neat clean circle. The "seismic" option makes a fairly neat circular cracked effect centered around your character, so maybe give that a try...

One issue is how certain travel or regular powers would interact while underwater - Champions Online basically forced every travel power into some form of "flight", and ignored all other powers - so fire and electricity still behaved normally, etc. If our powers were left unchanged while under water, then besides a graphical difference, what would be the point? I mean, would you just want to see a screen-wide rippling/blur effect? Perhaps some bubbles rising around you? What kind of changes would you expect while under water?

I wonder how much of that was the "petless mastermind" part, though...

Acrobatics offers mag 2 hold protection. How useful is that?
biostem replied to EnjoyTheJourney's topic in General Discussion
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought players had an inherent mag 1 protection, so the 2 from acrobatics would mean that an enemy would need to land 2 standard holds in order for them to affect you, (working on my understanding that the mag of a mez effect must exceed the mag of any protection that you have, in order for it to take effect)... -
Plant manipulation has the "toxins" power, which adds toxic damage to all your attacks. If you're rolling a defender or corruptor, you can take the poison set, which while needing love, fits the theme. I'm all for more options, but in the short term, recoloring fire blast or water blast are probably your best options. Heck, the -def of radiation blast could be explained as your acid deteriorating your enemy's defenses, or even beam rifle could be explained as some sort of "toxo-blaster" via the disintegration effect...

My take-away from the Lightyear movie is that it is the movie or TV show, which inspired a children's cartoon, which in turn the toy from Toy Story is based upon. So think of it like the 80s Ghostbusters toys were chiefly based upon the Real Ghostbusters cartoon, which were loosely based upon the live action movie...

I'd say no more than a 3-5 second phase or capped defense for a very short duration. Another idea would be the temporary pet that taunts enemies and you give off a weak placate as well...
