I have Mind/Savage that I test drove past level 10. very promising. I'm a bit bummed that upon checking, Leviathan Mastery doesn't have the school of sharks for her. Would've fit nicely with the bees, birds, and uh... other bird. 😃  I've also started slotting my Grav/Energy so he's starting to shape up at level 27.

My biggest dilemma with Dominators (same with my fortunata) is deciding which powers to take. They're all so cool, but I only have so many power picks. On one toon, I'm even thinking of not investing so much in the def and res department and just let the primary and secondary fend for themselves--which I think is very possible. When I've been killed on my Ice dom, I'd rez with the mob on top of me and continue fighting with my toggles off. I'd only have time to reactivate them when things are dead. 😃

To the OP question of "favorite Dom?" I'm going to give a shoutout to my Plant/Rad.

Rad "buffs" the enemy's ability to damage each other when confused via def debuffs, making kill speed quicker.

I'm loving my plant/fire.  He's my only 50 (other than a brute that was PL'd for the sole purpose of farming inf for my alt army).  I love Seeds of Confusion (confusion has always been my favorite CC method), it may be my favorite power in the whole game.  I want to like mind control for it's mass confusion, but the lack of a permanent pet, plus the long recharge on MC, steers me toward other primaries.

I've only learned about the changes to /nrg recently.  What primary does it pair well with?  I've been thinking of making an earth/nrg dom, but /nrg's KB will drive me nuts if it constantly throws mobs out of my AoE controls.

EDIT:  my plant/fire only has mostly SOs and isn't perma dom without a /kin present, but he is still GREAT fun!

I'd sad your post, but I don't really get that selection. Love my earth/earth dom ... when on teams. My fire/dark troller soloes better than she does, though, and I SOOO wish that wasn't the case.

Lately I've been back into my Elec/Psi/Mu Dom, who is now vet level 74. There was a period where I was less enchanted, but I kept trying out builds until I found something that really worked. The trick turned out to be taking more melee attacks, and picking up Cross Punch for situations where enemies strongly resist Psi.

Electric Control could stand some updates on Dominators; Synaptic Overload should Dominate, and probably Static Field should Domination on the first pulse. Still, this character satisfies some part of me that enjoys watching enemies go helpless.

I have a Dark/Savage who is a lot of fun. His powers are based off of pop culture vampires like Castlevania's Dracula., Dark Manipulation, summoning spirits, misdirection, superhumanly strong, and teleportation. If only I could have managed to squeeze in a triple fireball spell when he opens his cape...

@FUBARczarthanks! Would you go with or without pets build first?

I say petless if you like to move fast, 'cause the imps also die kinda easily and attack weird stuff sometimes.

I am not sure how much more effective energy assault is with a stun power in your primary but it is worth a try.

All of /Energy's KB is on single target ranged powers, anytime I knock a target back I can finish it off easily enough myself.

I've been playing a Gravity/Energy dom recently.  I'm leveling him still, and waiting to see if the new Energy mechanic makes him more fun/sustainable than my current main, a Gravity/Psi/Psi Dominator.  It's not super frequent, but I have had Energy Focus trigger off of a Wormhole'd enemy after using one of my basic blasts, which is a nice surprise.  I think it would be similar with Heart of Darkness or Flashfire (correct me if these aren't the stun powers, I'm less familiar with these sets.)

I'll also add, the intentional knockback ability, Power Push I believe, is spectacular.  I love having kb>kd enhancements in the area powers and anything I want to use carelessly, but I love having a reliable source of knockback.  It really moves people!  And, if you throw a +Knockback into Lift or Levitate, they go crazy high.  This allows you enough time to throw a Power Push on them while they are still in midair, and you can do some really fun, careful reconfiguring of enemies.  Great for getting the ranged mob off the balcony and down into the group, or up and over a barricade of some kind, or just because it's funny.  Plus, the effects animation on Power Push is one of the best energy blasts, in my opinion.  And it does decent damage!

Recently got a grav/psi to 50 and it’s ridiculously fun. Wormhole into the PBAOEs never gets old, Grav/ has great single target damage so I don’t have to take many attacks from Psi/ which lets me use more power pools, and the sets allow for enough S/L resistance IOs that the toon never takes damage and can stay in melee range spamming Drain Psyche/Shockwave, with WoC full of damage procs, to my heart’s content.

Sounds fun! Would love to see the build!!

I have been leveling an Earth/Earth just to try a melee Dom , hate the sounds of earth assault (hell mud pots is annoying) , and not feel "safe" on melee range yet (still lvling) ,but the combo is satisfying to play  , good dmg so far , and Earth control isnt TOP but has good CC (earthquake , and pbaoe stun on top of assault knockdowns here and there + 1 melee with hold ...we can say the spec "rocks" 🤭)

Enjoying mine as well, Agent of Shadows.  40-42% def to S/L and Ranged before FS and other to-hit debuffs.  Petless.  Permadom.  Fun times.   I'm going to do a 2nd build for him to exemp down that probably includes the pets.

After having been primarily a scrapper/brute/blaster player for my entire time playing COH (including live), I finally rolled my first dominator for an RP concept yesterday. It's Grav/Energy and, other than learning how the playstyle differs for dominator compared to scrapper/blaster, I am absolutely in love with it. Procyon Centauri might be among my favorite characters I've played, at least at early game! Really excited to take this up to endgame.

Interestingly Plant/Rad has been the only character I've stripped of IOs on homecoming thus far. Really the only selling point for me was the crazy sustain offered by Radiation Siphon. As other's have pointed out about /rad the odd mix of ranged and melee attacks does feel odd at times and the cast times on Atom Smasher and Devastating Blow are killer. And your AoE -Def in Atom Smasher is -12% on a 10 ft radius. /Thorny actually does the confuse-damage buff goal alot better with thorn burst providing -30% def on a 15 ft radius. Thorny just lacks the great DPA from Contaminated Strike or Sustain that /rad has.

Currently on fire.

Same, my Shield/Stone tank is my favorite for the SFX with the earthy booms and it defeats stuff quickly enough. Love my Earth/Time Controller and Earth/Stone Dommie, but boy are they frustrating solo.

Have an Ice/Energy in the low 20's that can't yet defeat anything before running out of end 😞

BUT yesterday rolled up a Mind/Savage and got on a few good teams and powered up to 31.  It was a blast on teams and I hope with IOs it can solo.

key for savage is to put FF +recharge procs in Call Hawk and Savage Leap (at least) ... my build above has some slotting suggestions.  Once you reach soft-cap to S/L you'll be a lot sturdier, as it generally lets you run in and hold everything (or disorient) under permadom.  the confuse is also great for soloing, even before permadom as you can pretty easily double stack it (at least you can on dark, i assume mind's single-target confuse works the same).  the utility of Sleet in the PPP for teams later is not to be underestimated.

My Plant/Psi/Ice dom is my favourite toon. Period.
Perma-dom/ hasten/ drian psyche/ carrions, softcap on s/l def and 1 purp from ranged (but I'm mostly melee anyway).
Just take stranger, roots, seeds, mass hold, carrions. The pet dies too much.

She makes mincemeat of most things.

My favorite dominator is going to be by default the only one I've played so far, which is my fire/savage dom. The -recharge helps with fire having weaker controls, as well as the endurance discount keeping me from running out of energy. Plus the anti-fly on unkindness synergizes with hot feet, and the crows look nice retinted as fire birds.

Does feral leap cause knockdown under some circumstance? Can't see any reference to it in the description or in-game power info, so surprised it can take the FF proc.
