Thanks and Yep this is my final act so I have to get it right from the get go.  I have learned an incredible amount this last month and its really going well.

fire/fire blaster isn't very much of a Blanker.  IMO /MC, /EM, /Temporal or /Mental would be much better.

 

That said, I don't see any SR yet?  And very little SS...

 

I handle everything with my Bio/TW but if I need to be a Tanker's Tank then I grab my SD/DM (although I'd probably make a SD/Rad instead today).

None of those really matter when you can take everything out before it gets you. Honestly Burn on its own is worth more than entire other secondaries in some cases.

Since I only have one of each archetype, answering this question is easy, it's whatever I happen to be playing, in this case a SD/BA tanker. Battle axe isn't flashy, but being able to knock down opponents with every one of your attacks is fun, and shield defense is a really good set. Having a damage boost and a teleport is both very welcome and hard to find on defense sets and grant cover is a rare party boost and also appropriate for a tank character.

My Shield/Dark/Soul Tanker is just about everything I expected she would be. The AoE changes to Dark Melee and Tankers combined to make it a go-to secondary. Siphon Life fills the Healing gap, Dark Consumption (Still needs love, but it's there as an option) or Ageless Destiny fills the Recovery portion, and even the T9 is complementary to the set if you mess with T9s like that.

 

And on the Tanker, I can get the combination to 59%. Given the level shifts, it actually feels equally difficult at times to run missions in Dark Astoria as PI, which means I get a nice change in pace from what enemies groups I fight.

 

It does not the have the sometimes very big crunchy numbers of my DM/Shield/Fire Scrapper, but I am happy to leave that for other team members should it ever be necessary.

This is easy. Straight up my F^3. Fiery/Fiery/Pyre because ALL the fire. Also, I built her more durable than most people believe can be done. PSI hole? No thank you. 61% resist, instead. There is little she cannot main tank. Nothing with a little support. And her damage output is so fast, I have to be careful not to hog all the glory.

I love Fiery/Fiery/Pyre for a few reasons. First, because FIRE, duh. Fire Sword Circle is one of my two favorite powers in the game (the other being Wormhole). It is just SO secksy! Fiery Aura is MUCH better than most people give it credit for. Unlike many sets, it has no huge gaping holes (hello 65% Psi Res), except slows, and you'll see why those hardly matter. It is totally immune to Sappers and other End suckers. It has both HP and End management tools, good ones. And it does a decent job of adding to your DPS. Heck, I even like RotP. I know many people think it is a waste of a T9, but it allows me to take way more chances, to push her limits.  

 

 A few notes, as you know, Fiery Melee has no control. So, if you want any control, you'll need to proc it. I have KD in both Combustion and Fireball, both of which fire fairly reliably. Oh, and the one in Blazing Aura. It is unreliable, but it does fire sometimes, and is a nice bit of bonus control/mitigation. Though, she goes with the policy that the best mitigation is dead. I took Acro for KB resist because I was too tight on slots to sacrifice a couple to the KB gawds. This is NOT a good AFK farming build. It will active farm like nobody's business. Many people look at this build and think she will have End issues. She do not. As long as I am careful, watch my end, and pop Consume at the proper times, she can fight all day. The way I set it up, she has almost a consistent AOE chain. You might need to throw a Greater Fire Sword in there once in a while, but it's close enough. 

 

As far as managing enemies goes, OMG it's so awesome. You'll note that she has 3 ranged attacks, in addition to Taunt. I often use these as additional taunts. Char is great at grabbing runners. Fire Blast and Fireball are good at aggroing additional groups, while Taunt is recycling. She can aggro juggle significantly more than 16 opponents. By dropping Burn, you keep annoying that group, then you can use your ranged attacks to aggro juggle more. The key is, most squishies can survive a shot or two. So, the idea is to keep rotating aggro so that the opponents only get a shot or two at the DPS before returning to you. This is also why slows are not a huge problem. With ranged attacks, she can bring them to her, better. I play her super aggressively and highly mobile. Anyway, you probably know all that, I'm just rambling. To the build!

Fire Armor/Something. Claws, maybe. MA is good too.

 

But I play 90% of the game. I don't often go into DA and very rarely do Incarnate content other than Tinpex. People do love their 100% best most survivable tanks (which is understandable since they -did- pick a Tanker) but IMO 100% best most survivable is such overkill. A Fire Armor can do most content on par with the 100% best most survivable while doing it faster.

 

The thing with this game is that it really pushes the tank gameplay into, as I believe Linea puts it, 'go into the middle of two groups then grab your ankles and wait 15 minutes without touching your skills'. And that's fine if it's a goal. But heck, my own goal has never been to go to AFK in the middle of a group of enemies for 15 minutes. If I need to kite I don't consider it dishonorable, having to click Barrier to get a breather is not something I consider shameful.

 

 

Something middle ground might be Shield/Rad as Nihili waxed poetic about up above, and if the game was just a touch harder, if we had a touch less IOs or less Incarnates I might be more into it. But the current game as it is I'm fine with Fire.

Invulnerability/Energy Melee. It can be considered "classic" or "simplistic" but I like the way it channels the feeling of "I'm right here and I'm not going anywhere (until the change to rooted)." In the mean-time, have a glowing pom-pom TO THE FACE.

 

While I see the appeal of auras that do things to enemies, I get the most satisfaction from auras that only makes my tank stronger.
