Ice/Cold Corruptor also hits hard and has the greatest -regen debuff in Benumb. You'll get a ton of -res in the set as well. I've soloed everything pre-incarnate content with enough time and strategy using this build.

"The Game is not Balanced around IO's"..... should it be?
Glacier Peak replied to Galaxy Brain's topic in General Discussion
Great post, I'd extend your suggestion to PvP as well. Edit: Continued further... Since PvP is a part of the game and balance is very important. Where damage is and has been king since issue 12 or 13. Single target damage spiking is the name of the game and for ONE Blaster to output more than 1606 damage without outside buffing is my definition overkill for any squishy AT. Now with additional buffs from outside sources that same Blaster is hitting damage caps during spikes. In a well coordinated team, that's multiple damage capped blasters spiking a single target. Only mitigation is dropping equal or greater healing to outpace the incoming onslaught. All this to say that damage is the key to balance in this game. Biggest impact (either positively or negatively) comes from adjusting damage scalars. -
"The Game is not Balanced around IO's"..... should it be?
Glacier Peak replied to Galaxy Brain's topic in General Discussion
I'd say the biggest factor in all of the talk of balance comes down to damage. Playing on SOs, damage is pretty balanced. If a player starts adding set bonuses, however, damage is going to increase one way or another (sets that increase end recovery allows more attacks to be activated, sets that increase recharge allow more attacks to be performed, etc.) When players start adding damage procs, it gets completely unbalanced and there is no way to undo it without the player consenting. -
"The Game is not Balanced around IO's"..... should it be?
Glacier Peak replied to Galaxy Brain's topic in General Discussion
That's a really good question. Perhaps adding a new layer to ATOs, specifically making them bring out the benefits and inherent ability of each AT. Instead of just two sets of ATOs per AT, design and add an entire build worth. This would likely horribly unbalance the game, much like the introduction of IO set bonuses did, then damage procs, but at least AT would remain relevant post level 35. -

Yeah, I have to keep agreeing with you. More of an aside, the role of side switching on live and even more so on HC has had the effect of playing with different color playdoh then putting it all away in the same container. City of Heroes content (up until side switching debuted) wasn't designed to be played with a Brute or Mastermind. Players can run villain ATs with interesting affects. Yeah, so I can't say it's a bad thing either. Just another way to play. -

Totally agree here. -

The bottom of my post was pretty clearly on topic. -

Of course, notwithstanding. -

I agree, fair question to pose. I would say I see archetype roles played more in the earlier levels. After about level 35 I don't really see it. -

This sentence is false. There is no requirement for any action in this game. Players consent to the terms of service/code of conduct and proceed to enjoy the game to the fullest extent of their imagination. Sounds like your personal playstyle. Cool. I don't even know why you're responding to this if you're saying is pedantry - like that is the definition of the word, that you would break down my entire post to point out minor things you disagree with? Is this humor? I didn't laugh. Cool. And telling people what roles are for, are for people who need to tell people how to play. Look I can do it too. To the topic of the thread - the game is not balanced around IOs or damage procs, or set bonuses for that matter. If you want to play a certain way, such as using everything you can muster in the game to your advantage, go for it. If you don't, then that is your choice too. Only thing players are required to do is agree to the rules of the game and log in, after that point it comes down to subjectivity. -
"The Game is not Balanced around IO's"..... should it be?
Glacier Peak replied to Galaxy Brain's topic in General Discussion
The opening of your paragraph should read: "When a defender uses their time to carry out the inherent functions of their archetype...." ... and then anything else after the point that their functional role is fulfilled that the player wants to do is entirely up to the player/playstyle. The role of the defender archetype is not in any way supposed to be on par with the highest damage outputting archetypes. Damage procs make it easier for players to use archetypes in a way they weren't intended to fit their playstyle, but it goes against the design of archetypes to begin with and severely diminishes the uniqueness of each archetype and their role within a team. -

Low damage archetypes aren't supposed to be high damage archtypes. They have their own roles to fulfill. Damage procs need nerfed or even removed from the game entirely. -
Totally, like each episode is a movie lol

Got any super hero music vids?
Glacier Peak replied to Jawbreaker's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
Again, not specifically what you asked for, but I think the characters could be considered detectives/sleuthes back in the day with a modern twist. -
It's pretty out there in the beginning, but as folks have pointed out it really pulls you back in by Episode 4. I like the direction of the show. I'm also glad it's transitioned to color, as it was giving my eyes a bit of strain watching the black and white episodes on a modern screen.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't tuna fish. Easier for some becomes a diversion in their focused efforts elsewhere. Of course, nothing I've encountered in this game has required me to big brain a solution, there are usually three or four methods for accomplishing most everything I've found.

Not a music video persay, but a great hip hop marvel super hero song. I really love the beat in this and it's cool hearing him list off so many characters. -
I like hurricane the way it is. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I could've swore the OG taunt sound was "HOOOOAH" then fist smash, fist smash. Great reminder on nukes, they were like the "oh I'm definitely dying to this mob, but I'm taking them with me" power back in the day. Remembering where the vendors were was actually a nice touch to keep the origin of your character relevant, IMO. Like it was only known to you who the hook up was. Target through tank 🤪 lol The Jack quote was 🔥

Gentalia and euphemisms on the bad word filter
Glacier Peak replied to mechahamham's topic in Bug Reports
"I know it when I see it" comes to mind when I read about any vulgarity filters. In the eye of the beholder. In my experience though, filters are not as effective as parental controls. Plus you get to play superheros with your kids! -
I remember the first time stumbling on a exploration badge back on live, I was like what did I do? Then I looked and looked and finally found the tiny badge on the ground. I think it was the one on the bridge in Perez Park, in the forest.
-
Just a guess, it is intentional and meant to give the player the feeling that they discovered the mysterious ship out in the ocean, disserted and the first thing they do is go to the door of the ship. If they put the badge at the very front, maybe Jack and Rose a la Titanic-style, it may have also been found, but I think its placement was appropriate given the ships odd location. There are other examples of badges in different zones awarding, even though you are not physically seeing them. I think Boomtown has one?

Auction House fees: is there any point?
