Use ignore, but don't abuse it. You can only ignore 30 in game before they the oldest one gets kicked off the end of the list. You can ignore all the people you want in the forums. Before long you will have no one to converse with -or- only the civilized, non-trolling posters to have discussions with. I have plenty of civilized, non-trolling posters to have discussions, with and my forum experience is much better for use of the ignore function.

I would suggest using the wiki to see when the level range of the contact, not using an x# XP, and setting the difficulty to flat. When you get to the level of or before the last level of your contact. Lock the XP at that point. By that time you should have all the powers you need to take on the end of the arc. It's more less what I'm doing over here with the Hero origin contacts :: Yeah, it isn't always a lot of fun running on flat difficulty, so sometime I handicap my characters. The blaster I'm running through the Magic Origins is a fire/martial arts. I've been pretty much running that character IB (innocent bystander) mode with no blast powers and only the martial arts powers unless I get into a really bad situation. When it does come to that point, I go through the power-up/transformation/変身 costume emote and tray flip to the superhero powers trays with the blaster powers and martial arts powers in them. But I try to avoid that as much as possible with that character.

The thumbsdown is a lazy /jranger. Less typing involved. Just a button click. "/jranger is a meme meaning no. JRanger was a poster on the Official City of Heroes/ Villains forum who would reply to ideas on the Suggestions and Ideas forum by only stating "no" without further explanation. Instead of saying "no", users started replying to posts by simply saying "/jranger" instead (the first instance being Memphis_Bill 9/21/07, since deleted). Both actions were ultimately made actionable and "bannable" by Ex Libris [1]. Although it ultimately led to JRanger being banned from the Official City of Heroes/ Villains forum, the usage still sees some use on the PWNZ forums and at least once by a developer[2] after this rule was placed." - https://cityofheroes.fandom.com/wiki//jranger

More proof farming PL'ing causing issues for non-farmers in the rest of the game. How about stop leeching unless people are running teams asking for leechers/doorsitters!?!! I was actually contemplating the ethics of that. I was at a Murder Motel, and there was one leecher even using emotes while standing in the general area for over 15 minutes without fighting or helping the league in any way. This thread as cleared that ethical issue for me. Yes. What they are doing is wrong, and they should be kicked from the league. People should report them to the league leader. But, now, here is the thing. What if the league or team leaders are multi-boxing and those are their alt accounts that they are trying to power-leech from the league?! Oh, you are pushing my AE farmer button big-time, but I'm trying to resist. I thought that was the whole point of playing games, but I guess I'm old as well. If you need to go AFK for a couple of minutes, go to your base, or at least say that you are going afk. You can get moved to an AFK team. If you are going to go AFK for 10-20 minutes, then leave the team. Otherwise you are leeching. The ToT teams aren't sending out /LFG messages asking for leechers/doorsitters. Players are deciding to do it without asking permission to do so. I think the number of players that are leeching/doorsitting are the minority. I don't think it is acceptable and other players agree. If you want to run a farming afk ToT league, then go for it. But don't expect other players to want to stay on your team to be leech food. I tell you if I'm on running a team and there are leechers, they get the boot. I have it as leader. It is there as an option for bad behavior. To me doorsiding/leeching is bad behavior. I don't think I'm the only one. And you now why it's the PI leagues that tend to have them? Because that's how they got to PI in the first place ... if not with their current character, but with their alt. I really have to think at this point that a majority of level 50's were power-leveled. Characters that get to keep their character name without ever logging in again simply because they were power-levelled to level 50. It seems like this behavior is increasing then. I'm assuming that they are working to afk farm are the Prismatic Aether Particles and/or treat it as AE AFK farming/doorsitting because the number of standard AE farms may be down due to the event. Either way, the ToT Leagues aren't advertising for leeches and, as such, I think leeches should kicked from teams. Are the team leaders that are level 50 and AFK leeching?! You betcha. If I see that I'll quit the league as well. I'll be looking for active leagues on other servers and not being used by leeches. I'm sure that there are people that want to be on teams where they won't be leeched. Some of the leagues are well organized. And to close, I have honestly only seen ToT leeching happening on the most populated servers.

Starting small is probably the best option. It wouldn't even need to be directly part of the Con. People could post here if they are going to be at a Con and want to meet other CoH players there. And post specifics as available about where to meet and at what day/time at the Con. I've gone to plenty of Cons that have a board to post events/games that people are running in their hotel room. There are usually plenty of places to hang out or get something to eat as a group.

Is changing the power levels power creep?
UltraAlt replied to _NOPE_'s topic in Suggestions & Feedback
And how much do those cost? I see. Good info. Yep. Archetype/classes/group-affiliation is standard in MMOs (most role-playing games really - oddly enough, not in the original Champions RPG). Yeah, expected as much. But at what price? That sound really bad. I was pretty much over it after talking to the first contact or two. It was not long after it came out and/or went F2P. But I have to say that tunneling did look interesting, but seems to be too easy to escape with. I could see this kind of travel implemented in CoH as a teleport that that can only target a surface (probably only the ground like other target attacks) with a digging animation at the start and popping out of the ground animation at the end. I can't see it as any kind of prolonged "out of combat" situation unless they put a phase shifting sort of timer/end cost on it, but that doesn't really work either as if you phase shift you can fight against other phase shifted opponents, and I don't see how you would handle two tunneling characters fighting one another while in tunneling mode. It's been brought up a ton of times before, and I don't see the build up to that based on the rest of the post. I disagree as well, but I've seen at least one thread like this before. We definitely can't have this now as it can be used immediately to lock in character names permanently. They do have access to the Temporal Warriors if they want an insta-50 to PVP. -
You can cancel your bid whenever you want. If something doesn't sell the price you are trying to sell it at, then you lose the influence you used to post it, but you can take it down and post it again.

Allow respec of incarnate abilities?
UltraAlt replied to Yomo Kimyata's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I try to hold my tongue about farming here, but there is "no need" for farming - afk or otherwise - for anything. As far as I am concerned any method of farming is an exploit The Incarnate System was misconceived and slapped onto the end of the game with a built in money-grab mechanic. Come on, Yomo. You know what you really want! Make Incarnate salvage tradable and postable on in the Auction House. -
Is changing the power levels power creep?
UltraAlt replied to _NOPE_'s topic in Suggestions & Feedback
You can have as many modes of City of Heroes as you want to play. You can play that everytime you fall in combat that you delete the character and start over. You can play that everytime you fall in combat that you log that character out for the day. You can play without using an inspirations. You can play without slotting any enhancements. You can play with slotting only the enhancements that drop for your character. You can play with slotting only the lowest level of enhancements that a vendor will sell to you. You can play with only IO enhancements (No IO sets). You can play with no ATO enhancements. You can play with no P2W powers, buffs, or enhancements. You can not play through the game to level 50 without doorsiting in a farm or being power-leveled by others by some other method. You can make a Temporal Warrior for PVP only. You can doorsit and get power-leveled to 50. You can solo. You can team up. You can league up. You can run arc missions only. You can run scanner/newspaper missions only. (by level 6 or so) You can run AE missions only. You can just run trials and task forces. You can play in the sometimes forgotten hazard zones. You can play each character separately and not transfer influence or items from your other characters. You don't have to use mids. You can never use respecs. You can decide to lock your xp at any point. You can even run petless masterminds. You can set the mission difficulty up and down and change the size of the spawns. We don't all play by the same rules. I don't farm. I don't use 2xp after the first initial 8 hours unless I'm trying to level at the same rate as a friend when we create characters from scratch and level them up together. There are plenty of other things that do or don't do that other players do or don't do. We don't all play by the same rules. And, you end this paragraph explaining that we don't all play the game for the same reason/rules. And you can make them hard using some of the things that I listed above. You can also make them easy by putting the difficulty in the negative. Myself. I like setting on the difficulty as high as the team can handle. If the team is wiping, then I turn it down to what the team can handle. The journey is the original intent of the game. The end-game is slapped onto the end to keep people playing so that they are paying for their subscription or P2W stuff. F2P is to get other people on the servers to play with the subscribers. Now you have to go back to how the game was before the Auction House. Back then I had a defender that couldn't get enough influence to even fully slot training enhancements in the mid teens. XP and Influence was unequally divided and granted based more on damage done than anything else. I healed and healed and buffed and buffed. I could help a team survive and win, but the rest of the team would out level me and then leave me behind ... and, yeah, they had the influence for slotting. And, yeah, I knew the difference because I had plenty of characters and was able to level up and slot up ... but they were all damage dealers. There was also hard parts where it was difficult to keep your enhancement green. And there was the flow of the game. When you meet a new group of villains, they are supposed to be difficult to defeat. As you level up, and figure out how that group works, you have an easier time defeating them. As you level pass them, they become easy to defeat, but then rolls in the new group of villains to contend with. And I agree that the feeling of accomplishment is there when you take the leveling path to 50 and relish each "ding" that you finally reach. Those "ding"s really mean something to you. "Finally I'm level #!!!" Well, to start, City of Heroes was made before Champions Online or DCUO. Jack worked on all 3 (still works on DCUO but back on another Marvel project apparently) Champions Online was built on what was a Marvel Universe Online project that fell through. Champions Online took the signature characters of Champions and threw out all the rules ... all the rules that were entirely mathematically balanced. Did they change Champions Online? You certainly could not pick whatever powers you want whenever you wanted them. The DEVs thought that it was a horrible idea to let players build their own characters in Champions Online like in Champions. The DEVs were against that idea that they rewrote the Champions rules based on their game mechanics and released that as the official Champions. Which was a travesty. I equate it to throwing out the baby and keeping the bath water. The DEVs of Champions Online ditched one of the best set of gaming rules and kept the signature characters. I'm not going back to take a look at it to see if they fixed it. I didn't like the art or the game flow of Champions Online. And if there was a change to make it free form like that ... it would be an entirely different game. The same way that Champions Online is an entirely different game from Champions. If you want to be able switch your powers around City of Heroes has builds. If you like Champions Online better than City of Heroes, then go play Champions Online. You can change your powers around whenever you want in DCUO. You can even change other aspects, but some you have to pay to be able to change. So maybe you might like that better. I'm not trying to run you off or start an argument, but I can pretty much promise you that the DEVs are not going to rewrite the game to the lengths necessary to achieve what you are suggesting. DCUO is superior to Champions Online, and THE CITY is by far better than either one of them. Who is trying to make the lower levels easier? I'll agree that there are somethings that make the leveling process easier, but I haven't run into any posts saying that the game content is too hard. I do see plenty of threads that endgame players with fully maxed-out mini-maxed cookie-cutter builds find the end-game to be too easy. There was no "I win" button in the game before the sunset. Is this a troll post? There have been threads about this before. The main reason for this not being a thing is the Naming issue. At this point, if you are level 50, your name can never be taken from you. And that is something that already disagree with as plenty of people power level to 50 by one method or another as it is. So yeah, if that is the point of the thread, I wasted my time writing as I read it, but I'm going to post this since I wasted my time writing it. I'm not sure what you are doing that is taking you 2 hours to get to level 2. The dead horse has been kicked. -
Make Mastermind Attacks Not a Liability
UltraAlt replied to Lost Deep's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
When you are in tanking/pets-in-defense mode, the mastermind attacks are there to draw fire and to debuff/distract target so your minions can defeat them. Not if you are in tanking/pets-in-defense mode ... especially if you can heal your pets. If you use the basic mastermind attacks they are single target, Provoke = When you have established that a fight is absolutely necessary, you step up to take the lead, provoking the attention of several targets at a targeted location. Use this to pull the attention of your foes off of an ally in trouble. This provocation effect is not as powerful as similar powers used by Tankers, and also has a chance to miss. To pull an enemy to attack you while you are in tanking/pets-in-defense mode so your minions can jump on them ... all the while your minions are soaking some of the damage you take. It may seem that I'm pushing tanking/pets-in-defense mode. Yeah, I am. It seems to work for me when playing multiple types of masterminds. -

I use two trays set up to go through some of the combos Tray 1 - power slice - ablating strike - vengeful slice - sweeping strike - Follow - (a high damage power or debuff; a p2w until better available, could be from powerset, and could be a pool power) Combos : Attack vitals :: ablating strike - vengeful slice - sweeping strike Tray 2 - nimble slash - ablating strike - blinding feint - vengeful slice - follow - typhoons edge Combos Empower : nimble slash - ablating strike - blinding feint Weaken : nimble slash - ablating strike - typhoons edge The other slots in the trays I put in; a respite macro, tray flip, fast travel, normal travel I usually run though the sequence of each of them and repeat.

AoE Holds Revamp for Controllers/Dominators
UltraAlt replied to Blackfeather's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Wow. What kind of team are you on when you get in a rough spot when the entire team is about to go down every mob? The only one that I have ever seen that were that bad was one when the guy leading the team upped the difficulty up far too high for the team to be able to handle. And I mean one (1) team like that. I don't know who you are on teams with, but you might want to check out PUG'ing if your regular crew is almost having a complete team wipe every mob.- 33 replies

AoE Holds Revamp for Controllers/Dominators
UltraAlt replied to Blackfeather's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I'm going to try to be a bit more direct about my input on this. Yes. This is an "Oh, s***!" power. That is exactly what it was designed to be. Fire it off when things go south and run for it .... everyone on the team run for it! I know that most teams don't want to run for it. Often times using an "Oh, s***!" power can be enough to turn the tide and the team can overcome the enemy given the slight reprieve. They have a long recharge time because they aren't meant to be used all the time. They are there to be saved for that "Oh, s***!' moment. I understand that there are those that just want to bulldoze everything and experience no challenge. The difficulty settings have nothing to do with it. If you can rampage through +4/x8 mobs without a risk is no challenge. There is no excitement, there is only button mashing and destruction. These power can hit more and hold longer if they are slotted up. They can even be used faster if you slot recharges in them. But they aren't made to be used rapidly or as soon as they recharge. They aren't damage powers. They are "save your butt" powers. The best solution to not liking them is not putting them in your build. I believe that the do what they were intended to do when they are saved for the time that they are intended to be used. It helps if your team knows how to react when thing go south. Bull-in-the-china-shop aka Hulk Smash! is not the only tactic. Retreating to avoid defeat is just that. There is an ebb and flow in superheroic stories. Heroes overcome difficulties. They aren't always victorious. A true triumphant feeling occurs when you defeat something that you couldn't defeat before. These powers are based on that. Turn-the-tide or get-away. They are made to be used in that emergency situation intentionally. That is what they are for. There is nothing wrong with that. In fact, it is genre relevant.- 33 replies

Symphony Hold Animation - Should be Dancing
UltraAlt replied to Ravenwulfe's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Very good! I really like this idea because it fits in to the theme so well. Clapping and cheering would be a thought as well, but dancing brings out a more musical theme/expression. I think it would work for the sleeps in the symphony sets as well.
