And that is the reason for AE AFK Door-sitting including reaching level 50 so you never have to log in to keep a name. "Why do we even have to level up to begin with?" - the other "we" (not including me) don't have to level up. They are AFk while it happens. On the other hand, we level up because that is what RPGs were originally based on. The move from miniature gaming to Chainmail to Dungeons and Dragons was the move from set figure values to characters that could improve themselves over time based on experience and away from an army or squad per player to a hero per player in a party of heroes. The move from battlefield combat to exploration of a fantasy world. And leveling was born hand-in-hand with the role-playing experience. I know that this may be forgotten or simply unknown gamer history for some .... And then there is the "ding" from leveling. if you really worked for it, that "ding" is an adrenaline moment for the player and not just the character (which I have to agree with others was an excellent empowerment of the "ding"). The player has achieved something and are rewarded for it. That is really what leveling is about from one standpoint. "I finally made it". .... but this thread isn't about that, it's about rolling back the clock which the OP can do themselves if that is what they want to do ... without imposing their self-determined restrictions on others. That statement isn't derailing anything. It's the truth. If they want to gate lock their own costume progress, they are free to do so with imposing any of the changes that they want on others. Frankly, I think they posted it just to cause an argument. The OP attacks other players for being "whiners" in their first post. Throughout, they either imply or flat out say that other players are trolling while it seems pretty obvious to me that they are trolling others. The OP derails their own thread from their initial post through subsequent posts attacking others that disagree with them. At no point do they take a stand to prove that they aren't trolling as far as I know. Maybe they finally did after I put them on ignore. At this point, I don't really care. I'm sure you may have noticed the new or unused accounts popping out of the woodwork that start these kind of threads or use them to harass or attack other players. It's become pretty common at this point. I shouldn't let myself get baited what they are doing, but, hey, I don't think it is wrong to call them out when they start attacking other players from the get-go. I hear people get warnings about that kind of thing and their threads get shutdown (even when it is a reaction to other players targeting other groups). I see this one is still up and running, and I wonder why. This thread is about rolling back the clock on other players. The OP restrict their own costume choices as they level if they want, if that is what they want to do ... without imposing their self-determined restrictions on others. That statement isn't derailing anything. It's the truth. Everything the OP is posting about they can self regulate without imposing their will on others. If they want to gate lock their own costume progress, they are free to do so with imposing any of the changes that they want on others. Am I derailing "telling other players how to play the game" by limiting their costume choices? That is the premise of the original post. They want to make others "earn" the costume parts instead of them being "spoon-fed" (which is obviously an attack statement against other players). What were their constructive posts? I'm against Farming, but still farming goes on. Regardless of the fact that the DEVs said that they would nerf abuse of the AE with a 40-ton ban-hammer, the then deleted their own posts because of feedback from someone (NCSoft Corporate in South Korea?) AE Farming is one of the main reasons that I quit subscribing before he sunset. I've learned to live with it here, but I don't participate in it or appreciate it ... especially the AFK farming/PL-ing. And here were back again, to those AKF doorsitters leveling past everything the OP wants to force other players to adhere to because they took the harder path to actually play through content to level up. No one should have to play a level 50 character in order to enjoy the game. I know I don't want to. I have plenty of fun playing lower levels I seem to recall .... Thank you.

that's why you have at least one extra so that they can move between the SG's to shuttle goods like I said. Please read my entire post. The point is to provide a workaround because it is highly unlikely the OP is going to get what they asked for. It is highly unlikely that is going to be added to the game. I don't think it is worth the DEVs time to try to do it. That's my point. I'm sticking with it.

Economics. Sometimes is cheaper to by something on the spot to worry about transporting goods from another location yourself. You don't start as a billionaire, but anyone can learn to use the market and gain wealth. (It is much easier than in real life) Things don't have to be instantaneous. And you don't have to say in the auction house all day. ... and I think the term you are looking for is ... Ebil Marketeer Nope. I just disagree with the suggestions that I disagree with. I agree with plenty of posts. I don't know where you are getting that from. I really don't care either.

You seem to be apologizing, so I accept that. I do give people a chance before I put them on ignore unless their behavior is so excessive that I feel that need to ignore them immediately. There is so reason to personally demean or attack other people in the forums. It seems to be against the forum rules to me. People have to understand that people aren't going to necessarily agree with them when they post. I stated in my signature there are those that feel like they have a right to attack others. They deserve to be more than just ignored, but ignore is the only power I have to remove them from my sphere of enjoyment - because that is why I'm here ... to enjoy the game and the forums. Disagreement is fine, but there is a time to disagree, and a time to say - okay, we are saying the same thing back and forth; there is no reason for this to continue. If one side can't let it go at that, then there is an issue. Sometimes this also has to default to ignoring them so I won't have to waste my time dealing with them again.
-
Yep. And some are going to be a jerk repeatedly. You aren't superior to anyone else. I don't claim to be. But I am here for an enjoyable experience and, if someone is ruining that, I and everyone else in the forum and in-game have tools to stop that. You are being insulting and that is not necessary. If you want to be insulted then by all means don't ignore people that insult you because you think that is some kind of badge of merit.
-
Are you asking why I put people on ignore? Most of the time is because they are personally insulting, trolls, jerks (to use a civil term), or they won't agree to disagree and won't drop discussion on a subject. But my point was a reply to American Angel's post "Let people make their replies and speak." And what I said is true; "The only way to stop them is to put them on ignore or a Moderator shutting down the thread." People can say want. If you don't want to deal with that person (aka read their posts or chats), you have a tool that allows you to ignore them (both in the forums and in-game). If the Moderators don't like it, they can shut down the thread (heck, they can ban an account if they want to) And maybe you could take time to read my signature.

You are trolling. Not me. Not the others in this thread. You don't have to worry about me anymore. I'm putting you on ignore.

I'm not agreeing with the original post, but, yeah, sometimes my character conception is that they wear different costumes under different specific situations. I have at least one character where the costume used by the character is related to what level they are. In fact, I have one character that hasn't even used some of their customs yet because they haven't reached that level yet. If they play content below their current level, they wear the costume already made for that related level range. Costume development does happen in the comic book as well as other superhero related media. Of course, I really love using costume changing emotes, have everything already built into the character. I usually built the default costume while in the creator and then - usually before level 10 when all costuming is free - I build the other costumes/size/gender changes and the related costume change macros. As far as not changing costumes, I don't think the Tick wears a costume. Your statement here is not correct. I have no idea where you came up with this idea. Even though the Red Tomato ... I mean the Red Tornado did wear a pot on her head, she still had a cape from the get go. Also, Superman, Batman, Sandman, Dr Fate, Hourman, etc. all had capes from the start. And so did many pulp heroes including the Shadow and the Spider. Masks and capes were standard for mystery men before any characters were ever termed as being superheroes. I'm against flaming and trolling, but people disagreeing with you and pointing out issues they have with your post isn't flaming or trolling. And in light of this, if @cotesan doesn't want their characters to have a cape or other items until they reach a certain level, then they have the ability to do that with the current game mechanics. I even listed above that I do this on at least one character. Nothing is stopping them from doing this with all their characters if that is how they want to play the game. Can we have laundry pins attachments as an option for that costume part? Yeah, this is looking like the pot calling the kettle black to me. I'm starting to think this is a troll thread as what you want is already in the game if that is how you want to play, and I'm not the only one thinking this ... Yeah, you are trolling.

I'm assuming you don't think your post is whining. One's person's post for change is seen by some as whining about what that don't like. With this in your post, it seems self-defeating to me.

You gain farming tickets for farming or do you get ticketed for farming?

Are Freakshow good annoying or just annoying annoying?
UltraAlt replied to DougGraves's topic in General Discussion
I don't mind fighting them, but then I don't avoid fighting Malta either. -
There is no need to build a character that you don't want to play. What is your character conception? What are their aspects? Where or how did they train to fight? All set work and combinations work, it's more about understanding what the character can do and adapting your playstyle to fit what the character can do.

I'm not sure what this is all about. Yeah. The packs are going to be stuck at 25M year round. I think that originally they were only on sale during the Winter Event and not year around. I'm certainly not complaining about making a profit on market sales. I just never flipped Winter Card packs. I have a base full of Winter Pack enhancements. Hopefully, it will be enough to handle my need for Winter IOs, but I get enough merits from card packs that merits aren't really an issue when purchasing enhancements from a merit vendor. Gotta run.

There is one.

Munitions Mastery - long overdue for a revamp?
UltraAlt replied to mlokc's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I'm just glad that we finally have some weapon customization on it, but I would still like to have the Council and/or 5th Column rocket launcher/bazooka as customization option. -
Oh, I had one that was a beast mastermind, but I found out you can get the bird and insect powers with a dominator as well (savage assault). It wasn't horrible to be a pet-less beast mastermind, but I was running with empathy secondary. It was a bit end heavy, and I was often soloing. Next attempt was Demons mastermind, because of the whip. I have 3 of these at this point. I wouldn't suggest using a pet-less mastermind for soloing or for much over the mid 30's. It can be a serious challenge to solo. I think the secondary really makes a huge difference. I think electric works really well as you need to treat a the team you are on as your minions as you have no pets. Focus on keeping the team up and functioning and attack through someone on the team. The whip is mostly melee, so you can be up in the fight with the melee members of your team and shield them as well as healing and buffing them. You have to watch out for Tanks that do not taunt and jumping up into a battle if the enemies all purples. When the enemy level is high and/or there is no taunting going on, then stay with the rear/ranged unit and shield/buff/heal them and attack any strays that try to move toward the backfield. I don't know what level you are playing. But I've been doing fine with my whip masterminds and been a benefit to the teams below level 40 that I have been on.

Simple solution to that is here. Plus you can buy training enhancements and DO. Training supposedly goes to 20. Another trick is to run DFB. It drops SOs that match the character. This works at any level, and it helps fill DFB teams for the characters that are using them to level. I'm not a grinder, so I would not push this to be done over and over again for any reason. But it is a way to get SO's without spending influence on them. If you don't want to out-level content, then simply lock your xp and run it just for the enhancements. You can play the content on flat with training enhancements until you can't buy them any more, You can do this sucessfully. Power-level to 50, and, yeah, you are putting yourself in a bad position. But power-leveling to 50 really isn't the intent of the game. It is just what some people do. I agree that we are getting new players We are also still getting returning players that haven't played since before the sunset. Well, the tutorials are in there, but they are before you get to Atlas, the Isles, or that other place that some don't speak of. Twinshot's arc is just lame. It is definitely not a tutorial. Players really need to be directed to the origin contacts. Specifically to their origin contact. A character should have the origin contact when they zone into THE CITY and be directed to speak to them in the Hud. I don't like Matt-whoevers starting arc either. Both of these seem to have been added as funneling arcs to try to get new characters all going through the same contacts for the merit rewards. The origin arcs in Atlas appear to have been created as solo missions. Teaming doesn't really seem to be intended until you leave Atlas. Hazard Zones are supposed to push you into teaming. I think the basics of influence are in the tutorial. Someone could make an AE arc that explains all the different types of currency ... if they really wanted to. Pretty much anything can be explained in the AE while it behaving as a mission as well. it could be the mission contact giving information. Things encountered in the mission could give information. The DEVs don't have to do all the work if someone in the community really wanted to help out with this or someone that thought this was necessary took the time to add it. Of course, this all comes back to players being directed to information instead being told to go look for it. I mean -- how many people these days actually go and run the IO arc in the University? i don't think players are even directed to go do it at this point. There is a guy in City Hall that you can talk to about day jobs, but how many people just run past him? Agreed. In my experience, you end up getting more than that. You can upgrade now. So I went to the Beta server to check somethings out before posting. I'm assuming the enhances are still working as they do on live. I can't buy Training enhancements from the Freedom Corp Rep near Miss Liberty. it starts with DO. It looks like you can buy DO's until around level 29. You could upgrade these to 50. I was interested in testing to see if I was able to upgrade training enhances all the way to 50 with the upgrade feature. I don't see any reason that you shouldn't be able to. I guess I missed when they remove Training enhances.

2 DFB runs will get you to 8 or street sweep for a bit for the last bit to get to level 8.
-
You don't. Use the Auction House to buy it. Incorrect, in the first sentence. I would much rather the DEVs to other things than spend the massive amount of time on this that it would take to provide what you are asking for. The damage is moving the DEVs time to do this than having them do things that they want to do to improve the a game. Insulting other players is no way to get people to agree with you.

Sounds more like an AE mission than a base. I think there was a Holiday AE Mission contest last year ... or maybe the year before ... or maybe I dream to much about CoH.
