This is a totally original and unique design that just came to me out of the blue, as did the name. I mean, who really knows where inspiration comes from, right?

I've got my Cimerora-only character who I have played infrequently, mainly because I am uncertain I appropriately matched real world versions of his rank and stature in ancient Greek society. To any history buffs out there, any recommended changes to this mid-40s, mid-to-high ranking (but not highest rank) Greek military officer and land owner? Also, to anyone who notes the historical humor in his name choice, I commend you! 😄

Edit: Paging @Luminara who I remember had ample knowledge and advice for a fellow player pertaining to ancient Egypt-themed costume design.

Just so you are aware, Cimerora is supposedly Ancient Rome and not Ancient Greece.  So if you want your character to be Cimeroran, you should probably model him after the Romans as @Luminara mentioned.  You could certainly have a Grecian character who sailed to Cimerora from Greece and play him that way, if you want.  But I just wanted to be sure you were aware of the differences in the zone supposed location, in case it was mistaken as it could impact your character's origin and perhaps how you play them.

There's a bit of temporal overlap that leaves some wiggle room.  Phillip II (Phillip of Macedonia) folded significant territories into Macedonia's control, including the whole of Greece, and led to the Hellenistic era of ancient Greece.  Not much later, Alexander III's (Alexander the Great) successes cemented Greece as the foremost nation of the region.  This empire forged by Greece interacted with and was later consumed when the Roman Republic (preceded by the Roman Kingdom, and precursor to the Roman Empire) conquered Greece in 146 AD.  For centuries before and after Greece ruled the Mediterranean region, Greece was the center of the enlightened world.  A hunger for knowledge, and trade routes, spread Greek influence throughout the region, bringing travelers, intellectuals, philosophers and even kings and other notable people to Greece, and sent Grecians all over the known world, too.  So there are actually several hundred years during which it wasn't unusual, or even uncommon, for a Greek person to be in Rome, or a Roman person in Greece.  The two countries are only a stone's throw across the Med from one another (so to speak).

And, of course, all of this eventually culminated in Rome's dissolution of the republic and formation of the Empire, the process of which was responsible for the death of Cleopatra VII (yes, that Cleopatra), who was Greek, a direct descendent of Ptolemy I Soter, who assumed the throne in Egypt and declared himself pharaoh, very shortly after Alexander died.  Around the latter half of the last century BC, Greek, Roman and Egyptian histories are all intertwined so tightly that they become one.  It's fascinating to trace the threads of each nation through the tangle that crops up in that time, forward and backward, and see how events influenced one another and led to the world we live in today.

Yeah, we’re conditioned to think of the Romans and Greeks as completely separate in… well, everything, but in reality they were pretty much two sides of the same coin. They weren’t even as distinct as North Korea and South Korea. More like NYC and Philadelphia. England and Scotland. Norway and Sweden. Maybe a bit more distinct than Colombia and the Central America countries, but probably less than Quebec and Ontario.

For some reason most people, even many scholars who should know better, refuse to acknowledge that human beings have always been footloose and fancy free, and that traveling to see what was over the horizon has always been part of every culture. That’s why there are ancient Hebrew loan words in the dialects of Mongolia and China, while the Chuvash language of European Russia has loan words from both Mongolia and Finland.

Our concept of what a witch looks like, seen in City of Heroes, is taken directly from the medicine women of central China. The robe, the big pointy hat, even the association of “familiars” of cats and birds, all comes from the Tarim Basin (that big desert area in current-day China) more than two thousand years ago. https://www.penn.museum/sites/expedition/ancient-mummies-of-the-tarim-basin/

And read about how the Polynesian people populated the Pacific as they went from island to island on what were effectively large rafts, with each speck of land separated by thousands of miles of empty, dangerous ocean. Some folks will do anything to get away from their in-laws.

So I definitely think we can allow a little wiggle room vis a vis the Cimeroran stuff in this alternate history universe of City of Heroes, same as with Croatoa. Or Paragon City itself, really.

Courtesy of @oedipus_tex for the name, here is Psychic Side-Chick, a Psi/Reflexes Scrapper.  I'll probably give her a better look later since I wanted the name first and foremost, gotta look up some good 70's psychedelic stylings.

After the shutdown announcement on live, I frantically went to work getting as many screenshots as I could of all of my costumes so that, in the unlikely event the game somehow came back, I would be able to accurately recreate; them. And whaddayaknow?

I've resurrected many of those original characters, but there are still a lot that haven't made a comeback (yet). I mean, I only got to play on live for a year, but I still managed to roll 93 characters, so there were a good chunk of them that never made it past level 5. But I thought I'd dig through those old folders of screenshots and share some of my "live" characters that have not yet reincarnated.

Thanks! His first ouftit was a little too Gambit-like, so I really wanted to lean in on the colorful card-themed look this time.
