What's the most satisfying sound/feeling you've heard/felt in CoX?

The music from the login screen when we first got to come home. It was a sound and a feeling.

I could never spend more than a few minutes at a time in Paragon Chat -- the CoH client as a front end to a chat server always felt as if I was looking at the zombie version of Paragon City, with none of the life the game had. Bringing my first character out into Atlas Park was like seeing my childhood home rebuilt.

Super Strength.  Just Super Strength.

Although Street Justice has a real crunchiness to it that sounds really good too.

But probably the single most satisfying sound effect in the game, to me, is Lightning Rod.  Every electric power should sound like that.

Headsplitter (visual bonuses for hitting multiple, top prize when it crits multiple)

Shadow Shards - Storm Palace (visuals as well), Steel Canyon and Hollows.

And I get a chuckle from Rad Blasts own "Photon Torpedoes" Proton Volley.

I like a lot of the ones already mentioned.  One of my favorites I haven't seen mentioned yet though is Howling Twilight.  That one has one of the coolest feelings/sounds to it.

Even beyond the cool sound it has, it also makes you feel pretty powerful the rare times when you rez several people at once with it.

The most satisfying feeling was a tie between hitting 50 with my TA/A before Issue 7, and fighting Adamastor solo on my Issue 5 Kinetic/pool melee character when everyone was screaming about ED killing the game.

The most satisfying sound... peacebringer *WHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGG* when attacking.

Get busy living... or get busy dying.  That's goddamn right.

Let's see:

  • Shout from Sonic Blast
  • Knockout Blow
  • Old Taunt
  • Stalker Hide
  • Stalker AT sound when selected before they removed it
  • Lightning Rod. I felt sad while playing CO because it was also missing this.
  • Path of Tears in Chantry
  • Marooned Shores in Cascades
  • Ski Chalet
  • Port Recluse in Sharks
  • Pocket D

There's more. I'm just forgetting 😂

It can be anything you find satisfying, doesn't matter what it is.

Fissure (Stone Mastery for Controllers). I like the animation combined with the sound and al the baddies getting knocked down.

@Spaci21 beat me to it, but the Private Message ping sound.

Particularly when the message being sent is along the lines of some kind of cheerfully excited expletive and an inquiry related to the seriousness of the amount of Inf I just traded to the other player.

Feels good.

I'm substituting "nostalgic" for "satisfying" but... for me, the most satisfying "feel" was (and is) bounding around with Super Jump. As soon as my first HC character got SJ, I spent an easy half hour just bouncing around AP and KR; there's nothing like that in any other game I've played.

As for sounds, like a lot of other folks I've a fondness for Energy Blast and Howling Twilight, but until I heard it again, I never realized how much I missed the sound of things colliding with Singularity.

<snip>

I recall being in the Hollows on my first character issue 3 (I think, so new to online gaming I didn't know what the hell an issue was then) running sidekicked and a teammate who had made level 14 returned from AP and bounded away.  I asked in chat as they soared away if that was 'Fly'.  No came the reply, Super Jump.  Not long afterward my first character was doing the same thing as yours was 😁.

Login music when I came back. Atlas Park theme. Both of those got me misty eyed. But for some reason, the cheesy pseudo-porn music from Blyde Square in Steel Canyon hit hardest. I think because that's when it clicked that I was really back.

Sound-wise, Spinning Strikes in Street Justice just sounds MEAN. Like you just broke those poor guys.

Most satisfying though has got to be my Dual Pistols/Martial Combat blaster. He is the only character I have that doesn't have a set attack chain. I just really enjoy hitting attacks in a more or less random order to see what kind of animation combinations I can come up with. Out of every character I've ever created he just feels more alive than the rest, because he's the only one who looks like he's actually reacting to what's going on around him.

The first time you finish Breakout and round the corner to the Arachnos copter, and your face is immediately melted by the most epic guitar riff of all time.

Nothing says "Time to be a bad guy" quite like that.

Even though I skip the power now in favor of cobra strike, crane kick has always been a favorite of mine. The POW, straight side kick, good damage, and watch the enemy fly away was always very satisfying. I have just shifted away from knockback powers, but crane kick will always be a favorite.

Watch you mean 'damn near'.  I know for a certainty the screen was all but impossible to see for a bit.

That was once I was actually IN Atlas.

I hear that, first body blow was the log in, followed by character select/creation ... I was all blurry eyed by the time I entered AP.

One of the main reasons (along with getting the "Jailbird") I still do the Breakout tutorial for each of my villains. Breaking out of jail still feels so damn good.
