Arachnos Bases are the best maps. Enough room to maneuver, hordes of enemies, and they have a great villain lair theme.

Worst mission maps? Anything involving a cramped cave. Especially CoT Caves.

Caves are only a problem when there are multiple layers and rooms in a "tile".   Of course, they lose the ability to stay out of melee for my flying blasters.  Praetorian sewers are only bad if you have to escort someone as the pathing on the stairs is absolutely horrible.

No real complaints beyond those.

Are you a Wolf, a Sheep, or a Hound?

In the way olden days my first toon was a magic themed blaster (back around i3). Being magic themed, I just presumed I should be fighting magic enemies and proceeded to solo my way through all the Circle of Thorns arcs.

In the process I learned every corner, nook and cranny of the Oranbega maps and never realized until much later that they were considered “hard.”

Personally, they’re my favorite just because they’re so thematic and flavorful... and not even hard to navigate if you’re familiar with them.

Not crazy about purple caves myself but I'd agree with Chris above and familiarity.  But no matter how familiar I might  be teaming with one or more masterminds on a melee character in those caves is still mighty aggravating at times.

As for having to search for the last mob having them show up on map is a huge QoL addition.  Now if they could figure some way to let you know which floor as well some of pita involved with searching multi-floor offices and labs would go bye bye too.

And while not the best (or worst) the arachnos caves with the hanging cocoons everywhere have to get a nod for sheer creepiness and emotional impact the first time I entered one for a mission. I  think one of few times I had a stronger reaction wasn't from the map but when a council foe went all wolfie on me the first time.  I nearly fell over backwards in my chair.

I really miss Dr. Vahzilok's sewer mad science lab.  Boss room is one of the coolest in the game.

Not a fan of the blue caves, especially when they might spawn the cake room.   But even worse than the cake room is the Arachnos base multi story water room.

It's still around. I found that mission not long ago. It was my very first signature AV encounter on live, so it's baked in to my nostalgia. Love it.

I like Oranbega. I like it mostly when I'm by myself. The original maps didn't consider the scale needed for multiple heroes against 8x groups to use the space omnidirectionally. Blue caves is a bigger offender. But solo, I like to explore Oranbega.

You can tell how much they learned that lesson on the Praetorian maps. Lots of room to jump around, even in the corridors.

1) Ernesto Hess Taskforce, the map with the levels of Scaffolding around the giant robot.

2) Dr Kane's House of Horror, the whole map including the Cemetery are really cool.

3) Mott Interior AKA What it looks like when you've been munched on by an Ancient Evil Hate Monster ( Get in my Belly! )

I don't really have a favorite mission map so much as I have mission maps that I hate running through. Namely a few of the offices that were designed by MC Escher on crack. Nobody puts a break room down two flights of stairs tucked away under a cubby-hole. Your employees would spend all their days wandering around lost. I always wonder if Paragon City even has a Fire Marshall.

For style there is one that wins hands down,  It is the HUGE interior vertical room with dozens of ramp and probable 15? stories high.  Having said that it can be a true pain to find a NPC objective in the room.  I don't use macros for that stuff and hunting the right "X" has left me irritated.  But the weird style and crazy ramp battles?  NICE!  and of course epic villain monumental architecture ftw.

I like the swish Praetorian office interiors out of the "regular" maps, but when I think about really cool unique interiors I always go to the steam-filled pipe section of the Skull warehouse in the finale of Sondra Costell's arc. More cool setpieces like that in arcs please!

I think anytime I enter a map with new textures or floor plans 'ooo cool!'  Then I enter that icky red cave with tendrils and what look to be skin/heart valves placed randomly to stop your progress and I think 'ooo not cool!'

It may be that I have seen the old wallpapers so much that any new(er) ones are lovely, like the Praetoria ones.  Not the red cave (sewer?) ones.  Definitely not those.

I like the Large boat maps the best.
Worst for me is the CoT caves with the wonky teleporters all over the place or the Council maps with the (what feels like) 23 story "Sauna" sections

Ah yes the sauna. I just did the Striga Isle mission last night where you have to destroy 5 pods in one of those rooms while they spit out vampyri. Fun stuff.

They do, but he’s so busy dealing with Hellion arsonists in Steel Canyon that he never has time to do routine inspections. 🤣

It is also a little known fact* that the Circle of Thorns has spent the past century slowly replacing every architect in Paragon City with one of their members and their seemingly labrynthine designs are actually arcane waveguides that channel the ambient magic of the city’s ley lines into Oranbega for their rituals.

* This fact is completely made up, but makes more sense than any other explanation I’ve heard for Paragon’s bizarre indoor architecture.

My Oranbega Exploration Policy is "Always take the passage on the left". Basically, it's any time there is a choice of direction to take, I always go left until that's no longer possible. Then I go back, if necessary (it's often not) and explore the corridors I missed.

Favourite interior map? I'd have to think about that, though I do like the one cave map that has that underlapping switchback, usually in the cave at the other end of the map. Reminds me of Morrowind caves.

Overall favourite map though? Don't even have to put much effort into that. Floating Mu City.

Dislike certain sounds? Silence/Modify specific sounds. Looking for modified whole powerset sfx?

Check out Michiyo's modder or Solerverse's thread.  Got a punny character? You should share it.
