Aeroprism Posted June 18 Share Posted June 18 Hello beautiful people. Another pointless topic but hey, they can't all be PuG stories and build requests. (Though I do love reading your PuG stories. I should write a few of my own). So, most of us spend a lot of time here discussing our next alt. First an idea, then a concept, then an AT, a powerset combo and eventually, a build. All of this motivated by in-game objectives or a need in particular such as the ability to solo this or that, or to support a team in a certain way, or just an idea of the moment, the need for something new. But suppose you, -the real you- were in Paragon City or in any superhero universe of your fancy. Of all the powersets and ATs available in this delicious game, what would you be? I thought about this long and hard while I was trying to solve a few hardcore user cases at work (ADHD has its merits) and I think I'd be a Martial Arts/Energy Armor scrapper. The idea that I could kick well and hard enough to damage and destroy a tank makes me extremely giddy and being shielded and replenished by all kinds of awesome kinetic energy barriers is just... so freakin awesome. I mean, there are some really awesome powersets out there too... Energy Blast: Who wouldn't love shooting protons at their enemies and sending them fly away? Regeneration: "Bad news sir, you have prostate cancer. ... Oh nevermind, it's gone." Etc etc. Tell me your awesome hero stories, people. Ukase Posted June 18 Share Posted June 18 This reminds me of a question I asked my mother, years ago. Me: Hey mom. If you could have any super power you wanted, which would it be? Mom: Oh..China. So, if you're asking me which powerset/AT I'd be, if it could be me, literally in Paragon City or the Rogue Isles, or even Praetoria or the Shadow Shard. It's that last condition that gives me pause. In real life, I could certainly see me trying to do good, but much like "The Boys" series, I could easily see me blurring some legal and moral lines due to an inherent sinful nature. In Paragon City, or the game world as a whole, everything is like an expanded game of rock, paper, scissors. I could choose Rock, but Paper is right over there to clobber me. So, any illusions of being top dog in a world like this would be delusional. Based on that, I would like to think I would have more fun being an ice/fire blaster than anything else. Obviously, I wouldn't be able to survive too much chaos, but I could probably out-run a lot of it. Only, unlike in game, I think this version of me would have Teleport, Super Speed and Fly. I think I'd want that to be a trained skill, rather than relying on some jet pack. And I'd probably lose the leaping pool in favor of the stealth pool. Who wouldn't want to be intangible if the moment indicated a real utility for it? I would miss the fight pool, of course. Forager Posted June 18 Share Posted June 18 My main originally started as if I was a hero. It was literally just me. My second character was my wife as a super hero. He is a natural origin Beam Rifle/Willpower sentinel. He was bald, under 6ft and the physique and chest sliders were almost all the way to the left. His office in my sg base was messy, just like mine. It was a fun project at first, but he is pretty boring. He is versatile and reliable, but specialists can do anything he does so much better. Playing yourself in a video game kinda sucks sometimes. I changed the name and backstory, gave him hair and made him bigger, but he's still a sentinel sooo... My wife as a character, however... that's very fun. She is a technology origin energy/devices blaster who is focused on fashion. She is an influencer-hero who has cameras following her around (targeting drone is her main camera). With other characters, I play very slow, safe and methodical... waiting on the tank or leader to do their thing... but with her I roleplay a little and push the limits. I probably wouldn't be a hero either, but probably a self serving rogue. Update: I was talking to a client today and they were being unreasonable and tossing out some obscenities. I thought about this post and figured it'd be great to be able to punch the guy, rewind time, stop myself from punching him, but use mind control to have him agree that the change orders for the project were unreasonable given the upcoming schedule for pubic hearings/not going to be approved, and have him apologize to the staff member he insulted. Otherwise the powersets would work great for negotiating contracts and my pay rate. But who am I kidding I'd probably be more diabolical and get into the political arena. I'd have to go with Claw or Savage Melee/Dark Armour/Dark Mastery Vigilante Stalker that would hunt down those that prey on others, like children and women. All the horror stories I read in my news feeds, I would want to import a little horror of my own. That or an Illusion/Emp/Dark Vigilante Controller performing the same function, but using they own minds to destroy themselves and their accomplices. The body count would likely be high. jk I'd totally be the the Healer type... <.< >.> Dislike certain sounds? Silence/Modify specific sounds. Looking for modified whole powerset sfx? Fire Chief Posted June 18 Share Posted June 18 I would be my fave right now (soooo much fun) an elec/dm Tank but with a twist I would be a vigilante/hero a Jekyll and Hyde or a Two Face lol. My good side of course would be elec/Hyde pure hero stuff like a Superman and my vigilante side of course would be DM/Jykell more like a Batman though with all the DM goodies striking fear into all evil. I can switch them off and on depending on the severity of crime and I would defiantly have flight and hover. Scarlet Shocker Posted June 18 Share Posted June 18 I'm tempted to say "Water"/Something because that would give me the best aquarium ever... but if I were truly cursed with abilities above and beyond those of "normal" people I would want powers to protect people in non-lethal ways that would also allow me to take down oligarchs who do so much damage to our planet and its people. How those work out... I dunno yet. There's a fine line between a numerator and a denominator but only a fraction of people understand that. (It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications) Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case. But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable. I'd be playing my game when some speedster from the future sets off a collider that creates a dark matter effect that merges my game account into me turning me into Game Changer, the hero that can assume any character he had built by the time of the "accident". My kryptonite would be my mortal self that has to appear briefly as I log out and in to assume the mantle of a different character. Alright, alright, just one...Illusion/Storm controller. A walking/floating 1-man army with the elements themselves as backup. Heck, you'd be a hit at parties, (unless dispersion bubble, also cures people of intoxication or any other "effects" they may be indulging in). However, I did have quick think about it and settled on a Psi/Will Stalker, which I now need to make ingame.
