What I play but never see another of...

There are so few fire/claws tankers out there I was on my other account and someone says to me:

 

'You've Sovera over the forums, right?'

I am loving my TW/SR brute (and scrapper & tank).  Don't know why I have never met another.  Mebbe because I solo too much  =)

I don't think I've ever seen another:

 

Ice/Plants blaster, my Hami raider.  Kind of a difficult concept to swing.  Punny name helped.

 

Fire/Regen scrapper.  Staff/Regen brute.  Scrapper recreates a character from Victory.  You would think there's no synergy between primary and secondary; you'd be right.  Gets trotted out for under-35 task forces where Regen still works well, and Shadow Shard stuff, where Regen is no worse than anything else.  Staff/Regen brute exists because I wanted to see how much would be needed to make a Regen brute tanky.  No synergy was a deliberate choice.  I chose Staff as part of the experiment because I wanted animations that would interfere with click heals as part of the experiment; and besides, I didn't have a Staff character at the time.  

 

More synergy with the Stone/Regen brute.   Another lowbie content specialist.  Stone Melee was chosen because it gets good early. 

 

Plants/Poison controller.  I can play support only if almost everything is aimed at enemies rather than teammates.   This is the one that clicked for me.  Lots of debuffs that just work without having to worry about the longevity of anchors.

Dark Armour/Stone Melee tanker.  Maybe I just hate having endurance...  And I got two of the damn things to 50, one on live and the remake on Reunion...

 

Fire/FF controller.  Then again FF is just rare, but I can softcap my imps all by myself... On Generic IO's, no sets.

Hop on Indom, I've got TWO of them 😉 Fire/FF is one of the most fun-to-drive builds I've run into, period.  The world could use more of them.

I really enjoy the pairing.  I can pop Power Boost, throw out bubbles and then spend my time you know, controlling for the next few minutes.

 

The fact that Bonfire is hilarious with a KB->KD converter and actually worth taking nowadays is the only real change to the build from live to Reunion.

I have both of these at 50 on Torchbearer. Both are super fun beasts.

Time/Ice defender. There are only 39 level 50s across all servers and I haven't run into one yet.

 

She is a slow/-recharge monster who can do decent damage.

I have a few that are fairly rare. Have only seen a couple if any:

 

Ice/plant blaster - blasttroller at it's finest

Ice/fire brute - effective and fun

Ma/wp brute -:yes, I said MA brute

Psi/inv brute - everyone should try psi melee

I like to think I've got some unique combos.  Probably my rarest is a Sonic/Ninja Blaster, of which there were only 6 of us at 50 as of the last census.

 

I have a Fire/Dual Blades Tanker.  Dual Blades doesn't come across as popular, I hardly see many people using them, much less Tankers.  Most DB users I see are Brutes.

 

Thermal/Ice Defender.  While the combo itself is pretty standard "opposites attract" synergy, Thermal seems fairly rare on Defenders.  Maybe the emphasis on healing turns people away, but don't doubt the power of Defender values on Forge and Melt Armor.  Interestingly enough, the fire shields mitigate so much damage that the healing itself is mostly moot.  I got to 50 and I don't even have the first Healing badge despite a fair amount of team play.

 

Working on a Psi/Dark Corrupter.  I don't know but it seems like Psi is fairly uncommon on Corrupters.

I made one purely on a lark, to claim the punning name 'Ice Minstrel.'   Ice something was a given, and I wanted to check out Plants.  Once I saw what the powers did I chose to groom  the character for Hamidon raiding.  

 

Most difficult part was thinking up a bunch of trash talk binds based on Stephen Foster, James Whitcomb Riley, and Al Jolson lyrics.

it may be that I've just not noticed, but I don't recall seeing any other Sonic/Cold Corruptors out there, which is a shame, because when you decide to *really* ensquishify a hard target and unload all of your debuffs, a Dreadful Wail, and a couple of other shouts on a target, then they don't have any choice other than to become squishy.

 

I really need to get round to a respec on mine and make *her* less squishy, too.

I have one. For the record, it's a strong PvP Blaster combination so you're likely to run into more of them if you partake in that aspect or play on the unofficial PvP server.

Got one of those, too 🙂 Mind/Poison/Stone, and it's another of my favorite builds.  Nobody expects a controller to unload a 1600 pound single-target bomb every 8 seconds.

Yeah, that's me too, but I dunno if my build ever managed a bomb.  You're talking Hurl Boulder?  I didn't have too many slots to play with so I just stuck to Seismic Smash, sigh.  I really should fine a way to respect her for both, throwing giant rocks at people sounds like fun to me.

I have a KM/Fire Stalker and a Claws/Fire Stalker. Fire Stalkers of all sorts are rare birds. 

My Dark/Ice Stalker and Archery/Time Corruptor are also pretty unusual.

That'll give you the number of them who had made it to 50 as-of March. XD

 

(It looks like there were 25 Fire/Fire stalkers at 50 back in March.... So, yeah. Pretty unusual.)

I think so...

There's a post somewhere in that thread that pulled out and listed all of the "None Of" combinations (There weren't many-) for each archetype, if you're curious. 

 

 At this point, if the devs were to re-run the queries I suspect there would be several Claws/Fire Stalkers at 50. Like I said upthread, some of us took the absence or rarity as a challenge. XD
